1.2 | Updates Update from Rozhen – considering running NDP in the upcoming provincial election Mimico Food Fest recap – Great feedback for this event – Tim led the planning – Lots of learning for next time – Need a community sponsor, board team, plan for what each group is doing. – Mike Majeski’s business made a big donation to cover the overage costs of the event. Meeting with Cllr Morley & next steps – Discussed the Mimico GO situation; Some have heard the province may close the Mimico GO when the Parklawn GO comes online, or at least more to alternating service. We need accessibility funding for the Mimico GO to move ahead. We heard the Parklawn GO will take 5-10 years before it’s online – Rozhen will set up a meeting with Christine Hogarth to discuss this topic |
1.3 | Green Mimico event Date – Thursday, Oct 17th, 2024 at the Mimico library Goal – Consultation on the Green investments from the government coming – regarding infrastructure for storm resiliency, etc. – Michael, Sandy and Tim are leading and will facilitate discussion among attendees |
1.4 | Halloween Dance Date – Friday, Oct 25, 6 – 8 PM at David Hornell school – Mike will send needs for support – Tim will DJ and handle the sound system, order from Long & Mcquade – Sara – arrange a QR code for the event & a Membership signup – Jim to post a promo on the website – Dave to include in the upcoming newsletter – Sara to create the flyers and email invite Needs – Payments at the door; people help set up and tear down |
1.5 | 2405 Lakeshore OLT settlement hearing has been rescheduled to Nov 9th and we have been granted participant status. We have an opportunity to submit another letter to the OLT regarding this. We heard the following – “The Tribunal grants the request to adjourn the written settlement hearing scheduled for October 8th. The written settlement hearing is now scheduled for November 14th. Settlement materials shall be filed by no later than November 7th. Updated Participant Statements (if any) shall be filed by no later than November 12th” – David will manage the MRA Statement to the OLT by Nov 12th at latest |
1.6 | Branding and Logo Updated New branding and logo launch – Sara presented the logo options and we chose one with a larger bridge in the background – Email campaign to those with expired memberships – Sara cleaned up our membership database; and also cleaned up the contacts and emails – New Member process – We will now send a new colour email welcoming new members – Email to expired members is also ready to go with the new branding – Need to update our website, membership documents, etc to match – Cost – $5/person & $20/family – Sara & Jim will plan to update the website, registration, emails, social media, etc with the new branding |
1.7 | Other Updates Local MRKT Fall Fest is on Oct 12th – Tim/Jim will be manning the MRA table Mimico Mobility Plan CityNews piece – Mike was interviewed for the article TPS NCO program in Mimico – The Toronto Police Service reached out to MRA about setting up a Community Office in Mimico – Sara wrote a letter supporting the idea and some comments Outreach for New Board Members – Rozhen and Mike will begin with social media, newsletter and other ways this coming month; interviews will begin in January Treasurer’s Update – TD balance of $4,910.56 or $4,585.12 after an outstanding cheque for the hats is cashed. |
