🏙️ Developments
Committee of Adjustment
Two developments in Mimico were scheduled for the April 23 Committee of Adjustment meeting at Etobicoke York Community Council.
We have been communicating with many neighbours about their concerns.
-
In case of 66 George Street the Committee voted 4-1 to refuse the application, you can watch the public hearing on YouTube.
-
In case of 63 Station Rd the Committee received well over 100 letters of objection (the MRA Board and Councillor Morley also sent letters). The applicant asked for a deferral and it was granted, watch on YouTube.
It’s great that so many neighbours engage in City processes that shape our Mimico neighbourhood.
327 Royal York Rd
The original plans by the current owner had to be adjusted several times and some of our concerns got addressed with the help of Councillor Morley & team. Find our most recent letter from February 2026 here. A photo titled “Mimico has a new pond” received attention on reddit a few weeks ago.
Last week another motion was added by Councillor Morley to address our concerns regarding safety and functionality of the proposed right-in/right-out access to the site as well as having the Community Benefits Charge be directed towards improvements of the Royal York Road and Judson Street intersection.
The Provincial Government announced the Transit Oriented Community (TOC) for Mimico GO in 2018. You might have noticed that 8 years later, nothing got built and the Province hasn’t announced a new TOC for Mimico either. We will write more about this soon, as TOCs also came up in City Hall recently.
✈️ Opposition to Billy Bishop Airport Expansion – Mayor’s petition
For any residents wishing to express their opposition to the Province’s proposed expansion of Billy Bishop airport and their expropriation of city-owned land on Toronto Island, the Mayor’s office recently launched a petition which you can sign here.
How can you help the MRA?
Get in touch, contribute knowledge and skills as volunteer or become a member for $1/month so our volunteer board can confidently speak up when things happen in Mimico.
Our next board meeting: May 6th, 7pm.
