The Mimico Residents Association is committed to keeping our community informed and engaged. After each monthly meeting of our Board of Directors, we issue a Newsletter via email to our members and post it on our website, to keep you posted on our activities, as well as local news and events.

MRA Seeking Board Members
The MRA is seeking applicants for our Board of Directors (up to three positions) – we are particularly interested in candidates who are tenants/renters in Mimico and can represent this important group of residents.
Interested residents, please send a short application bio listing your experience, expertise and community interests to our Executive, c/o info@mimicoresidents.ca. Applicants must be MRA members in good standing (Membership Information available at MimicoResidents.ca).
MRA Mimico 20/20 Survey Update
Our 20/20 Survey opened on June 5 and closed June 26. There was an excellent response. The survey was completed 265 times, with 183 comments submitted in response to the open-ended question “If you could change one thing about Mimico 20/20…” at the end of the survey. We are in the process of tabulating and analyzing the survey results and will provide a summary to the membership and the City as soon as possible.
Our recent 20/20 comments summary to the City (now posted on the website landing page), while informed by the preliminary results and comments on the survey, could not include a detailed summary because the survey closed the same day as the City’s comments were due.
Report Stinging Red Ants
An invasive species of stinging red ant has been reported in Mimico and in other parts of the GTA. Coordinated efforts are necessary to manage the impact of this pest. For more information about this ant and the most up to date management strategies refer to this website:

Wesley Mimico United Church Update
The Church, at Station Road and Mimico Avenue, has been investigating redevelopment options over the past year, and has now released a new proposal: “Repurpose, Renew, Add” which involves retaining the outer walls of the existing structure, removing the existing roof and adding 2 – 3 storeys, as well as adding to the back and front of the church. Like many residents, your MRA is concerned about preserving the character of our neighbourhood as development projects begin to increase in size and frequency over the coming months and years. Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund launched in Ontario
“The Conservative Government is committed to creating jobs, growth and long-term prosperity in our communities,” said MP Trottier. “The Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund will boost economic activity in communities and help support job creation in Etobicoke-Lakeshore. By improving the quality of our community facilities, we are also contributing to building prosperous communities for Canadian families for years to come.” Community and recreational facilities are now eligible for repairs and upgrades through this Fund. MRA and the Joint BIA
The MRA has appointed a Board member (VP Shawn Hughes) to attend joint BIA meetings as a representative of the MRA. Our Treasurer Dana Beatson will represent the MRA at meetings of the Mimico-by-the-Lake BIA. The organizations can support each other’s initiatives, helping us meet our mandates to serve, improve and inform the community, while supporting local businesses.
MRA Public Meeting Thursday, September 13
The MRA invites all residents to attend our new quarterly public meetings to hear about current community affairs and express your view and concerns. The next public meeting will be at Mimico Baptist Church, 80 Hillside Ave, 7:00pm on Thursday September 13.
