Reminder! 1st Annual Mimico Pumpkin Parade

Date: Thursday, November 1      Time: 6pm-8:30pm
Location: Mimico Square, Amos Waites Park

Say farewell to Halloween with an enchanting evening. The Mimico-by-the-Lake BIA invites you to bring your Jack-O-Lanterns to light up Mimico Square and the pathway leading to Amos Waites Park on Thursday, November 1st beginning at 6pm. Please bring your own candles. Volunteers will be on hand to assist in lighting the pumpkins. Pumpkins will be collected by the City of Toronto the following morning. Wesley Church Update

Redevelopment plans are underway for Wesley Mimico United Church, located at the corner of Mimico Avenue and Station Road. The current proposal would transform the church into a four-story low rise with 36 housing units, while preserving the bell tower and some of the exterior. Recent Local Traffic Studies & Concerns –
Hillside and George 4-way Stop Sign APPROVED

The MRA submitted a letter to the Etobicoke York Community Council and Councillor Mark Grimes, stating that a 4-way stop is indeed warranted at Hillside Ave and George St. based on traffic and pedestrian volume during peak school drop off and pick up hours. Read the letter.
This item was considered by Etobicoke York Community Council on October 10, 2012 and , the item was “Approved” with the support of Councillor Mark Grimes. 4-way stop signs will be installed at this intersection.

Cement batching plant on Judson

Residents in North Mimico on Judson Avenue have contacted the MRA with concerns about the ML Ready-Mix cement batching plant on Judson, which is generating increased diesel truck traffic, noise and dust in this residential area. The MRA invites concerned area residents to contact us (info@mimicoresidents.ca) with your concerns and contact information. More information to come on next steps with this area issue.

New Detention Centre Info
