City Staff to study relocation of Mimico GO.

From Councillor Grimes: “At its April 11 meeting, the City’s Planning and Growth Committee introduced a surprise motion asking staff to study the relocation of the Mimico GO station. While I strongly support the construction of a new GO station in the Humber Bay Shores neighbourhood, removing the Mimico GO station is not the way to accomplish this.
I urge local residents to send your comments to the Planning and Growth Committee at pgmc@toronto.ca.”   Please copy your comments to info@mimicoresidents.ca.

Mimico-by-the-Lake Secondary Plan decision deferred by Etobicoke York Community Council

The EYCC has deferred their decision on the Plan until June 18, “to allow the Director, Community Planning, Etobicoke York District, to respond to comments received at the April 9, 2013 Public Meeting.” (from Councillor Grimes’ Motion to defer)

Many different concerns and facets of the Plan were discussed at the April 9th EYCC Meeting. You can review many of the communications submitted on the Agenda Item here.

MRA Response to Draft Secondary Plan

The MRA submitted a written response to the Draft Plan based on our surveys over the past year, and our president Kyra Trainor also spoke about our positions at the April 9 meeting. Excerpt: “Ultimately the MRA would like to see revitalization along our lake but not at the

expense of any additional benefits to the community. The waterfront is a scarce resource that should be enjoyed by all people in our city. The City needs to invest in this section of the waterfront with more than a Secondary Plan.”
