Tomorrow: Mimico Transit Forum, 4-6pm 🚂

In 2018, Metrolinx organized an Open House at Mimico Presbyterian Church to share that “Mimico and Long Branch GO Stations will be fully accessible by 2023 with electrified, 15-minute service by 2025.” Then the Ford Government took office, directed Metrolinx to stop procurement and adopt a new market-driven strategy, then came to Mimico to present Vandyk as their partner. Almost 8 years have passed.

Since Metrolinx hasn’t organized another event like the 2018 Open House, with meaningful engagement with our community, we figured if they aren’t doing it we have to organize something ourselves.

• Metrolinx will have a box to collect your questions and feedback in writing!

• If you want us to ask your question or can’t attend please email your questions to us before 7am Tuesday. info@mimicoresidents.ca We will group questions and present them or email them as a consolidated list.

• Please respect that we are focusing on Accessibility at this Forum and more meetings will need to be organized. We hope the interest in this event will motivate Metrolinx to organize their own Open House like the one in 2018.

• 5:00 Metrolinx Presentation starts, followed by a short Q&A

• 5:20 Councillor Amber Morley, MPP Lee Fairclough and MRA President discuss next steps

• 6:00 Event closes. Enjoy the walk home. Maybe take a detour through Christ Church St. James Cemetery & Memorial Garden.

• The building is fairly small and we expect to reach capacity quickly. Please respect the capacity limits and follow our volunteers’ guidance. Stay in the park, watch the live feed on your phone together with neighbours, make some friends, bring water, a folding chair, weather will be good. No, the library wasn’t available, unfortunately, and proximity to the station was important.

The event taking place in this area may be photographed, videotaped or recorded by the Mimico Residents’ Association, and these photographs, videotapes and recordings may be made available to the general public.
