New Board of Directors / Initiatives / Events

Hi neighbours,

Almost 100 of you joined us in-person and online as we presented updates on our advocacy & initiatives (see below) and had a great dialogue with Councillor Amber Morley and MPP Lee Fairclough, including an open floor Q&A.

We would also like to welcome our new board members and re-elected members continuing their volunteer contributions to this organization. And a heartfelt thank you to Rozhen and Emma — we’re grateful for your time and wish you all the best.

MRA Board of Directors 2025/26 & 2026/27 with Councillor Amber Morley and MPP Lee Fairclough

Right after the AGM, the newly elected Board of Directors appointed former Treasurer Michael Schwanzer as President, Mike Majeski as VP, Lauren Facto as Secretary and Ryan Myhal as Treasurer.

You can find more information about the current Board of Directors on our website. If you are looking for the delicious cookies 🍪 we had at the Library, head over to The March Table, a Mimico Microbakery that we thank for their donation.

We are looking forward to a great year ahead in Mimico.

MRA 2026 Initiatives

We have several initiatives that we believe will increase the quality of life in Mimico:

  • Mimico GO Station Accessibility

    • It’s 2026 and Metrolinx still can’t provide a timeline when barrier-free access to the platforms will be established. We will need your help to get more attention to this issue. We are contemplating organizing a “Mimico Transit Summit” in the coming months. Would you want to help?

  • Mimico Creek Bridge & Trail

    • We have started a conversation with Councillor Morley’s office and Citizens Concerned About the Future of the Etobicoke Waterfront (CCFEW) about a Mimico Creek trail between Lake Shore Blvd & The Queensway. MRA Board Member Andrew Blackwell presented this deputation to the Toronto City Budget Committee earlier this year. A 2016 staff report on Etobicoke and Mimico Creeks stated that plans for water treatment near Bonar Creek and for the Legion Road Extension needed to be completed first before Mimico Creek planning could proceed. Pleasingly, money for the Legion Road Extension is now included in the capital budget.

    • CCFEW has been around since 1989 and spearheaded the fight to secure public access to the waterfront, which resulted in the creation of Humber Bay Shores Park. They also organize popular Bird Walks in Mimico.

  • Green Mimicoinfo@greenmimico.ca

  • Mimico 2040
