Proposed New Park Lawn GO Station

In February, Metrolinx released a new business case analysis that included the recommendation to create a new Park Lawn GO Station in addition to operating the current Mimico GO Station. Metrolinx is considering running a split service at these two stations where alternating local Lakeshore West trains would stop at Mimico or Park Lawn; providing a continuation of the current 30-minute service frequency at Mimico GO Station.

While this plan falls short of Metrolinx’s previous commitment to running 15-minute service at all Lakeshore West stations it offers a solution that sees the development of the new Park Lawn GO Station while maintaining service at the Mimico GO Station.

One continued area of concern for residents of Mimico is the following point from the Metrolinx Business Case:

“The identified station location is less than the 1.5km from existing Mimico station. Further analysis is required to determine if Mimico station should be retained, and if 15 minute service should be split between both stations”

As long-time advocates for the preservation of the Mimico GO Station, the Mimico Residents Association have written a letter to Metrolinx applauding the new strategy that includes the two-station solution, while advocating for much-delayed accessibility upgrades planned for Mimico GO Station.

If you are interested in finding out more you can:

  • read the analysis here
  • our letter to Metrolinx here
  • or discuss the plans with Peter Milczyn and Mark Grimes who will both be in attendance at our AGM in March.

We would also encourage you to get in touch with Metrolinx directly to highlight the importance of an accessible, frequently serviced Mimico GO Station to you and our community.

You can direct your concerns to Phil Verster, Chief Executive Officer – Metrolinx, ceo@metrolinx.com.
