About the MRA
The Mimico Residents’ Association has a mission to represent and advocate for Mimico residents, foster a greater sense of community, and help improve Mimico by supporting activities that enhance the quality of life in our community.
We do that by organizing fun local events, monitoring developments in the area, championing projects and issues that matter to our community, working directly with our elected representatives and connecting with you.
Our Guiding Principles

Inclusivity: We recognize that our community is diverse and made up of different groups with different priorities and perspectives; in all cases, we endeavour to advocate for the common good across these groups and, where possible, will avoid “taking sides” or a hard line on divisive issues

Positivity: Our work focuses on the positive aspects of our community and opportunities to make Mimico a better place to live for all; as much as possible, we avoid excessive focus on criticism and negative perspectives

Transparency: To fulfil our commitment to representing the Mimico community, we embed openness, accountability, and transparency into all activities so that we can maintain credibility and trust within the community
Our Board
The MRA Board of Directors is composed of 10-12 volunteers who manage the activities of the MRA, plan for community events, engage in advocacy on current issues, monitor developments, and regularly engage with community members. A new board is elected yearly at our Annual General Meeting, and we welcome applications from our membership.
Small investments of our time have real impact
📣 Voice: An organised community gets meetings, answers, and results. 60 residents sent our recent letter to Metrolinx & Minister; Special Edition Newsletter with Mimico GO Update coming in a few days!
🌳 Stewardship: Parks, playgrounds, streets and shorelines survive because people who use them care for them. Thanks CCFEW, Friends of Humber Bay Park & many others!
🛠️ Resilience: During storms, outages, or emergencies, the people nearby are who show up first. Learn with Green Mimico, Oct 21, how to keep your basement dry and meet your neighbours who are making Mimico more resilient.
👶👵 Kids and elders: both do better when there are trusted eyes beyond the household.
🧭 Local knowledge: Find the heat pump installer or babysitter you can trust: neighbours know. Shoutout to The Hustle!
💚 Mental health: Loneliness is now understood as a public-health risk; casual daily contact is a real antidote.
🎨 Culture and memory: Murals, gardens, festivals, and stories only exist because someone bothered to make and keep them. Thanks to Lakeshore Arts, Mimico Village BIA & Mimico By-the-Lake BIA and many more!
🤝 Trust: Repeated small favours (a borrowed ladder, a recycling bin put away) build the social fabric everything else rests on.
