Why Traffic Is Worsening In Mimico

Traffic congestion in Mimico has become an increasingly urgent concern for residents, significantly affecting daily commutes, access to services, and overall quality of life. Mimico’s key arteries regularly experience slowdowns as commuter traffic cuts through residential streets, creating hazards and frustrations for pedestrians, cyclists, and families navigating local roads. These challenges are compounded by the lack of sufficient infrastructure improvements to accommodate both current traffic volumes and anticipated growth in the area.

The Mimico Residents Association is particularly alarmed by the risk that congestion could worsen in the coming months and years, driven by increased population density, ongoing development, and insufficient public transit investment. Without proactive, forward-looking planning, Mimico’s streets will become more gridlocked and less navigable, directly threatening the livability of our community and the well-being of its residents. Several key factors are likely to accelerate this worsening issue in our community:

 Ontario Place Parking Garage

 Weekend GO Train Cancellations

 Gardiner Ramp Closure

 15-Minute GO Service Delayed
