Mimico GO – Petition
Would you pay a contractor without a timeline?
Generations of MRA Directors have warned that long-promised improvements at the neglected Mimico GO station keep getting delayed — from the lack of parking, to the hole in the ground, to the wasted opportunity to build desperately needed affordable housing. Earlier this year, we rallied the community to demand overdue accessibility upgrades.
After 6 months, Ontario’s Minister of Transportation finally responded.
The Ford Government claimed this May that they awarded “a contract to design a new tunnel” and showed a design the people of Ontario already paid for in 2016.
You might notice in the petition response (here) that it neither includes the word “tunnel” nor a timeline —for accessibility upgrades that were legally required by January 1, 2025. MPP Fairclough immediately sent a letter back to the Minister (see here) reminding them how important this station is for our community.
Why does the Ford Government keep sending more taxpayer money to Metrolinx without demanding timelines, deliverables, or accountability?
Why is there a never-ending cycle of “design work” at Mimico GO—and how come after 7 years of provincial zoning changes around the station, no housing got built?
How long will Ontario taxpayers fund redesign after redesign, every few years, only to receive nothing but old renderings without timelines?

The MRA will keep you informed about local transit projects!
New Parks & Playgrounds in Mimico
🌳 Mimico keeps getting better for families! In 2025, the City of Toronto created and improved several of our parks and playgrounds. Even more parks and playgrounds are coming — and you can help shape them! 🛝✨ Please see the survey below to participate. 📋 For 2026 we are excited for more news regarding the use of the Old Train Station.

Grand Avenue Park Opening
This exciting new space is years of planning and resident engagement, ensuring the design perfectly reflects the community’s needs. The opening party on Nov 1st (photos above) was a lot of fun and the kids are looking forward to going back soon.
Hillside Park
The new Hillside Park playground is now open to the public. The final playground design and layout were determined using feedback from the community. The new playground will be Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) compliant. Find out more here.
New Parks Near Portland Street & Audley Street
Share your thoughts here until December 16, 2025. The project team is seeking community input on the preferred sports facilities, amenities and design features to be included in the new parks. Your feedback will inform the design options presented in Community Engagement Phase 2.

Miles Road End Parkette Improvements
Located at 4 Miles Road, is in the detailed design phase and permit approvals are in progress. Based on the current schedule, construction is anticipated to commence in Spring 2026. The proposed design for the parkette improvements include: a new pathway into the parkette, benches facing the lake, an accessible chess game table.

MRA Position Paper – Real Estate Developments in Mimico
Find our new position paper on our website and learn about our goals for regarding the evolution of Mimico as a livable community, including:
- Policy measures attacking community engagement are concerning and misguided
- Building more housing will not necessarily lead to improved affordability
- We need a better balance between high-rise condos and other housing types
- Mimico needs more affordable family-sized housing options
- Investments in infrastructure and community amenities must match increased density
- Plans for increased density must include a strategy to increase affordable rental units
Our vision is a Mimico where growth enhances livability, rather than undermines it – a community that future generations will be proud to call home.
Humber Bay Park West Shoreline Maintenance Project
The project will repair three beaches and five headland erosion control structures damaged by high lake levels and waves.
The project is broken into five phases with Phase 1 scheduled to start the week of January 5th, 2026 followed by Phase 2 in late spring 2026. Learn more on the project website.

Gardiner Expressway Rehabilitation
Spring 2025 – December 2026
Demolition activities on the Park Lawn Road overpass will be taking place overnight from 11 p.m. on Sat., December 13 until 11 a.m. Sun., December 14.
Demolition of Mimico Creek Overpass is expected to take approximately one month due to the environmentally sensitive creek area and confined work space in this area.
While efforts will be made to complete the majority of demolition work during the day, overnight work will be required on some nights to safely complete activities.

Traffic Studies
At our last meeting with DM Amber Morley, we learned that the City’s Transportation Services division needed to complete a traffic study at the Judson / Royal York Road intersection before making any changes. A few weeks ago, you may have noticed the sensors installed as part of that study. We will keep you updated.
