Annual General Meeting – April 11th, 2024 Thank you to everyone who took the time to attend, either in person or virtually, and who contributed to the lively discussion. MRA President Rozhen Asrani provided a report on our work during the previous year that can be found here. This included concerns regarding the chemical spill and recovery plan in Mimico Creek, delays in the housing redevelopment and improvements to the Mimico GO station, and residents’ concerns related to other developments and the Mimico traffic and mobility study. We also welcomed new board member Michael Schwanzer. We would also like to thank MPP Hogarth for sharing her thoughts with the Mimico community and for answering a broad range of questions posed by residents. She noted that the livability of the community depends on ensuring that efforts to increase densities are matched by strong commitments to provide the infrastructure and community services needed to support both current and future residents. Further, this will require good working relationships across governments. May 8th Community Meeting: 2405-2411 and 2417 Lakeshore Rd The City of Toronto is holding a community information meeting on Wednesday, May 8th on the 2405-2411 and 2417 Lake Shore Blvd W development application. The MRA has previously expressed significant concerns regarding this file to the City Council, which include a net loss in public parkland at Amos Waites Park, extreme overdevelopment in terms of height and density, and the lack of affordable housing or other community benefit, to name a few. A copy of these letters can be found on our website here and here. We encourage all Mimico residents to attend this virtual meeting by registering here. More information can be found here: www.toronto.ca/2405Lakeshore Both the MRA and City of Toronto planners have significant concerns about both the scale of this development and its impact on adjacent parkland and community spaces. We must hear what you think about this proposal. Please join the conversation.
