In case you’ve missed our other posts, here are five of the top things that we were excited to be involved in over the past year with the support of our members:
- Worked with local residents and Councillor Grimes to advocate for road safety measures, resulting in an upcoming comprehensive traffic study in Mimico to consider traffic calming measures for the neighbourhood.
- Worked with LAMP and other South Etobicoke community groups to organize an all Candidates Meeting for the 2018 Municipal Election.
- Hosted a ‘Tree for Me’ event where we distributed 184 free trees to support the City’s 40 percent tree canopy cover target.
- Continue to advocate for Mimico GO station accessibility enhancements.
- Organized the Mimico Waterfront Cleanup, an annual event to clean-up our beautiful waterfront parks.
The Mimico Residents Association is a member-supported volunteer organization. The more members we have, the greater the influence we hold at City Hall. Member dues also provide us with a key source of funding to support our activities. Membership also gives you voting rights at our AGM.
One final thought – please share this and invite your neighbours to join.
We truly appreciate your support.
