SUMMARY:Walking the Kora
DESCRIPTION:An immersive walking performance led by Tibetan youth blending live audio & participatory encounters to explore mindfulness and meditation. \nWalking the Kora \nInspired by the Tibetan practice of “kora”\, a walk of reflection and meditation\, Walking the Kora transforms the tradition into a walking performance. Guided by young people\, audiences move through a natural landscape\, coming across a series of short encounters and demonstrations that offer light\, yet meaningful entry points into deeper explorations of emptiness\, mindfulness and meditation\, inviting audiences to reflect on how these concepts may resonate within everyday life. Toronto is home to one of the largest Tibetan populations outside of Asia\, making it a meaningful place to share this centuries old tradition\, led by the next generation of Tibetan youth. \nThis performance uses a wireless audio system\, each audience member will receive a personal headset that delivers sound throughout the walk\, creating an intimate and immersive experience. \nTickets are free\, however advance registration is required due to limited headset availability. We kindly ask that guests only reserve tickets if they are planning to attend\, and to cancel their reservation if plans change so that spots can be released to others wishing to participate. \nAccessibility & Venue Information \nThis is a guided\, moving performance that takes place outdoors on park grounds and may include walking through grass and uneven terrain. Paved paths and benches are available along the route. \n— \nA spiritual successor to Enter the Gorshey\, Walking the Kora features Toronto’s Tibetan youth\, while also folding in some of the senior comedians from Die Laughing in an intergenerational exploration of mindfulness and connection. \nWalking the Kora is presented by Arts in the Parks Toronto. \nmammalian.ca
